Summer intern Applications accepted through June 1, 2019 Start date: June 17, 2019
We have one internship position open (June through September 2019) for a student seeking school credit or a student/community member seeking nonprofit administrative and fundraising experience. The intern will serve as an integral member of the planning committee for Bellingham’s International Day of Peace celebration and the affiliated Drink & Dine for Peace fundraiser. Responsibilities may include helping with volunteer recruitment and coordination, securing sponsorships from local businesses, coordinating with restaurants for Drink & Dine for Peace, coordinating with community groups tabling at the event, supporting speakers and performers, supporting caterers, media and promotion, video production and photography, and planning the evening program. There will be ample opportunity for the intern to shape their own experience so that it aligns with their interests and learning goals.
The intern is expected to put in an average of 5 hours per week June through September 2019, though scheduling is flexible. If completing a for-credit internship, interns can complete up to 15 hours per week during summer quarter. Background experience in living/studying critical race theory, legal work, social inequality, community organizing, media, fundraising, and/or event planning will be helpful, as will a growth mindset. The internship is unpaid.
