Timeline of 20 years of Peace and Justice Activism

For our 20th years anniversary in 2022, WPJC compiled personal accounts of peace and justice activism stories in Whatcom County. This form allows you to continue to submit your own additions to our timeline.

The project also has a physical representation that was displayed at the Depot Market Square for 2022's International Day of Peace. This collaborative installation art piece comes with yarn strings for individuals to represent their own life lines and connect strings that weave together events they found significant or were involved in. The timeline is available for community members at our office location at 1220 Bay Street and can be used as a pedagogic tool for reflection, consciousness and public awareness.

Feel free to explore the the virtual version of our timeline below (this virtual timeline display is best seen on a computer screen than on a mobile device):

The Whatcom Peace & Justice Center calls on our government and society to disavow policies of violence and seek a culture of peace.
