350 Bellingham: Feasibility Study on Municipal Electric
350 Bellingham is asking supporters to email Bellingham City Council and Mayor and call on them to convene a feasibility study on municipalization of our city electric. This was a specific recommendation from the Climate Action Task Force from 2019 and it’s time for it to be explored further. Time to act on climate justice!

Amnesty International 270: Campaign to End Gun Violence
We continue to focus on making grassroots calls to all Senators, asking them to support and pass the Break the Cycle of Violence Act. Now is a critical time for these offices to hear from you, as the budget reconciliation process is underway. We have a unique opportunity this month to get the Break the Cycle funding included in the budget.
Take Action Now! Use this phone call action (includes script!) to urge Senators Murray and Cantwell to pass the Break the Cycle of Violence Act and recruit other Senators to co-sponsor.

The Berrigan’s: Devout and Dangerous
A guidebook for activism, Susan Hagedorn’s doc is a portrait of the Berrigan’s – Daniel and Phillip – who were Catholic priests dedicated to non-violent resistance. From the Vietnam War to AIDS funding, these two brothers walked the talk for over 50 years. 80m. Unrated.

C2C: Funding for Immigrant Families Resource Center
Since 2005 the Whatcom Peace and Justice Center has supported Community to Community Development and our work toward justice for immigrants. We are now asking you to take action.
The Immigration Advisory Board, which was established after three years of struggle, is working
to build equity into governance and has recommended the creation of an Immigrant Resource
Center funded by the city of Bellingham. Now is the time to turn that vision into a reality. Please
contact the mayor and city council members, remind them that you are a Whatcom County
voter, and insist that the city fund an immigrant families resource center. Please forward
responses that you receive to [email protected]
With gratitude for the ongoing solidarity, Community to Community Development.

Jobs with Justice: Lynden Hazard Pay Ordinance for Grocery Store Workers
Send an email to Lynden City Council members (one address for all
Council members: [email protected].)
Here is a sample script:
My name is ____________ and I am a community member. I am writing to
ask you to pass a hazard pay ordinance for grocery store workers in
Lynden. COVID cases are at an all-time high. Workers are still facing
hostile clients who refuse to wear masks and finding it difficult to
physically distance in crowded stores, endangering their lives and the
lives of their family members by going to work. Safeway can afford to
pay hazard pay--their profits increased 270% during the pandemic and
they already pay hazard pay in Bellingham, Seattle and Burien. Lynden
has an opportunity to do the right thing by workers who have served our
community at significant risk to themselves and their families. Please
pass hazard pay for grocery workers.

WA Coalition Against Nuclear Weapons: Letter Writing for Nuclear Disarmament
For Washington Against Nuclear Weapons, we will be asking people to send letters to city council members and their city mayors (including Mayor Seth Fleetwood) to sign on to a letter asking President Biden to take concrete verifiable steps towards nuclear disarmament. It'll be a grassroots effort to get our local elected officials to put pressure on President Biden's administration to join the people of the US in our move to secure a future free from nuclear weapons.

Whatcom CARE: Advocate for Full Implementation of Since Time Immemorial Curriculum
This month, we are asking all our followers, supporters, and community members to take action by asking schools and school districts to fully implement the Since Time Immemorial: Tribal Sovereignty in Washington State.
What is the Since Time Immemorial Curriculum?
It includes curriculum and resources focused on tribal sovereignty and tribal history in Washington State. It was tribally-developed, is endorsed by all 29 federally recognized tribes in our state, and is provided, for free, to educators by the Office of Native Education within the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. While it has been required by law since 2015, it has not yet fully been implemented in all school districts, schools or grades in Whatcom County.
What can you do?
We need YOU to take action by emailing specific staff at schools asking them to audit the use of the curriculum in their classrooms and take action to implement it fully into the school community.
We have made it easy for you to take this action!
Simply review this document which will direct you to a sample email we have already drafted that you can use/adapt, and see a list of contacts organized by school/district so you can determine who to send the email to.

Whatcom Human Rights Task Force: Contact Bellingham City Council About Winter Sheltering
We are asking supporters to contact City and County Councils to urge them to expand their severe weather shelter plans for people who are unhoused beyond the only option currently available, Basecamp, which forces people into a large congregate setting that does not accommodate couples or families.
When contacting your elected officials, you can advocate for a plan to include alternatives that serve a range of needs. Be prepared to offer concrete examples and suggestions like:
· Sanctioned camping area(s) with access to water, electricity and sanitation
· Safe overnight parking area(s)
· More tiny homes
· Partner with churches
· Partner with hotel(s)
· Community mutual aid efforts
· Prohibition on sweeps
