The Whatcom Peace & Justice Center presents:
2019 International Day of Peace
"Climate Action for Peace"

6-9 p.m., Saturday, September 21, 2019
The Majestic (1027 North Forest, Bellingham)

Hundreds in Whatcom County gather every year on International Day of Peace in solidarity with people around the world. In 1982, the United Nations declared this day an annual worldwide 24-hour cease-fire to envision what our world can look like without weapons, violence, and oppression.

Keynote by Women of Color Speak Out

Picture
Women of Color Speak Out is a collective of Seattle activists working to educate and inform communities about the connections between the climate breakdown and systems of oppression. They are focused on shifting the narrative of the climate movement to one that is beyond the superficial causes (fossil fuels) to the deeper injustices of the world by decolonizing our minds. They speak from their personal truths and share unique perspectives on demanding climate justice and collectively creating a new, just future for us all.

Silent auction and info fair from 6-7 p.m.

Twenty community organizations will be on hand during the social hour to connect with you.
