Transformative Justice Learning Lab (TJLL)

TJLL cohorts actively learn nonviolence skills through practice by developing systems of community accountability, care, and safety outside of the carceral system.

Transformative Justice Learning Resources

We are working to offer more educational opportunities on Transformative Justice to the community, as well as resources for your own learning that you can find below:

Pod Building Zine

Our 2023 TJLL Pod Building cohort created a zine as a resource for those who want to learn more or begin pod work on their own. Another zine was created in 2025!

What is Transformative Justice?

Transformative Justice (TJ) is an anti-racist political framework that comes from a feminist, queer-led perspective and aims to transform the conditions that allow for violence & harm to happen and replace punishment with ecosystems of care. TJ:

◦ is a community-based practice that doesn’t rely on state systems

◦ doesn’t perpetuate oppressive norms

◦ cultivates principles like healing, accountability, connection, and safety for everyone

TJLL Seasons & Workshops!

In 2022, we had our first season of TJLL. Last year, we began offering workshops centering Transformative Justice and Pod Building for community members.

Our spring application has closed and the TJLL Cohort begins in April. Keep an eye out for our 2025 late summer/fall season applications and upcoming workshops!

Love to Read? Check out our reading list while you're waiting for our next season or workshop!
